Brown & black

1. Calvin Klein | 2. Mango | 3. Tory Burch | 4. Kate Spade | 5. Tory Burch | 6. Zara | 7. J.Crew

I used to be so, so against brown & black together. “They clash, they’re too similar, it just doesn’t work,” I used to say. Then I was inspired by a Calvin Klein bag I spotted in Hudson’s Bay recently – I liked it so much that I immediately Instagrammed it – so I decided to explore brown & black a bit more. Safe to say, I’m a fan now… it’s a pairing that definitely works.

C’est la vie

Sweater: Forever 21 | Necklace: Forever 21 | Shorts: Old Navy | Boots: Old Navy | Purse: Kate Spade

When I saw this sweater, I instantly fell in love. It’s hard to go wrong with a charming French phrase scrawled onto a cozy knit. Picked up the necklace at the same time and barely noticed a dent on my credit card… you’ve gotta love Forever 21 for that! Paired with some shorts, tights, and boots, it’s a comfortable fall outfit that’s totally on trend.

Fall fashion picks

Fall fashion

1. Club Monaco | 2. Mango | 3. Banana Republic | 4. Zara | 5. Tory Burch | 6. Aldo | 7. Zara |8. Topshop | 9. Kate Spade | 10. Coach | 11. Club Monaco

I love fall clothing for its richness – there are always deep hues of indigo and crimson on the racks and, of course, lots of basic black. This season there’s also so much happening with patterns and embellishments on clothing too, which leads to lots of fun and fabulous choices for holiday parties… the office… you name it! I love all the pieces I picked above – but especially that dress from Mango (picture it with black tights and heeled boots) and those darling flats from Coach. Also need to get my hands on that Club Monaco necklace – it’s the perfect way to glam up a little black dress.

What fall fashions are you loving right now?

High vs. low: Gold-toe shoes

High: Kate Spade | Medium: Club Monaco | Low: Old Navy

I love this trend right now – simple black pumps & flats with a touch of bling. But I think I’d err on the side of “too trendy to spend a fortune on” when buying these. If I’m spending three hundred bucks on shoes, they’d better be timeless and classic (aka never going out of style.) If you’re like me, those cute flats under thirty bucks are the way to go.

Denim jacket: American Eagle | Shirt: Gap | Pants: American Eagle (Similar) | Purse: Kate Spade (Similar) | Flats: Gap (Similar)

It’s hard to top jeans and a tee for comfort. I always like to add a little something extra through – like these pink flats, which give a simple outfit a bit of pop. You can actually walk all day in these shoes, too, which is definitely an added bonus for a girl in the city.

PS: Notice how the leaves are starting to change across Toronto? I guess it’s really fall now!

A pop of pink

Dress: Gap | Belt: Nine West | Heels: Nine West | Purse: Kate Spade

None of these pieces are new, but I love this colour combo so much – pink and black is fun and classy. Actually snagged those heels awhile back at the Kind Exchange in Toronto. They were in mint condition and a fraction of the actual store price (score!)

Some silver sparkle

You’ve probably noticed a different vibe to this post… a personal style post for a change! It’s a new direction for the blog but definitely something I’ve been wanting to do for awhile. I love fashion, I love Toronto, so here we go – I’m merging the two. Can’t wait to share outfit ideas & hear your feedback!

These sparkly silver Gap flats were the inspiration behind this first look. I’ve been on the hunt for silver shoes for awhile, and these ones are just so comfy (and not too expensive – I don’t like spending a fortune on trendy items that might go in and out of style.)

Have you hopped on the silver trend yet?
